For My People

Welcome home. I’m on an errand today. My people said to leave them alone. My folks said to leave them out of your nonsense. Your grandparents also sent a message. Nana Yaa asked that you come get the phone you bought her if that’s what is stopping you from actually coming to visit. You know Agya Mintah doesn’t say much, today he too had something to say. In fact, I should have written everything down. There was enough for everybody. I am trying to put all of it down at the moment. You should have been there. You should have heard them yourselves. So, I went by your Auntie’s provision shop, hmm, or at least what is left of it. She claimed you didn’t even come by to greet when you last came to town. Apparently, you are ashamed of them. There’s no excuse for your ignorance, friend. You can’t keep shoving your smartphone in everyone’s face and then not use it when it really matters. They are words you don’t really have to misspell. Those are opinions a quick search on that phone would have disproved. We are in such crazy times that you can’t forget your education. Everything Mum taught you at home counts. Everything, friend. Never miss an opportunity to learn. Never fail to liste...
